What is a "Hot Topic"?

An Academy speaker is invited to write a short article on a leadership issue. A circle of three or four other experts in the field are then invited to comment on, challenge or raise a different aspect of the issue.

I can't tell you how many times I've walked into businesses and seen people - okay, the leadership - walking around with their shields up. Don't they remember what it was like to be part of the rank-and-file? Don't they know that their employees have great ideas for how to make things better?

And yet like a Klingon cruiser patrolling the neutral zone, their domineering presence results in people giving them a wide berth. I know it's not always intentional, but this kills creativity and productivity.

Some of the provisions of the Companies Act 2006 came into force in January 2007 and include the First Company Directive.

It requires all companies in the UK to include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their e-mail footers to avoid being in breach of the Act. Failure to comply can result in a fine.
